Most Fun Destinations in the World for Kids
Kids, similar to adults, are bored of the same old monotonous trips to the nearby splash zone or the local candy store. Kids want to do something that will allow them to see more of the world, interact with fun people, see interesting animals, and maybe even ride a boat through a turbulent lake–who really knows.
Interestingly enough, there are tons of places in the world where you can take your kids and have not only them enjoy the adventure, but also you (the adult) enjoy it just as much.
So let’s say goodbye to the same two or three boring locations that you always go to and say hello to some amazing locations around the world.
New York City, New York
New York City has been a top tourist destination for years upon years, and for good reason. Contrary to popular belief, New York City is not some city that ONLY has things that adults can do.
Kids have either heard about or seen the Statue of Liberty on television, cartoons, or the radio. Taking them on the ferry over to Liberty Island will make their jaw drop to the floor out of sheer excitement.
Aside from the Statue of Liberty, there is also a constant stream of neat performers doing magic tricks and singing in Central Park. The bright lights of Times Square and the huge zoos that mark the city are other attractions for children to enjoy.
The Yucatan, Mexico
If you and your kids like playing in the sand and dipping your toes in crystal clear ocean water, then The Yucatan is the place to go.
This location is in Mexico so it adds another dimension to the traveling aspect of your visit if you are coming from the United States. Not only will your kid enjoy the wonderful flight over to Mexico, but they will also love snorkeling with the turtles and swimming with the dolphins.
If you and your children are history buffs, there is a historical dynamic to The Yucatan, as well. Located in Tulum is an incredibly well-preserved Mayan walled city. Walking along the paths and touching the stones that the ancient Mayan people built allows the lovely weight of history to fall on you and your children’s shoulders. Many people that I know have fallen in love with history after visiting this location.
Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo, Japan may not seem like a place that children would love to go to, but it is quite the opposite. Museums, parks, and, most importantly, video game stores take up large swathes of the city, offering up entertainment for all ages.
Also located in Tokyo is Tokyo Disney Resort, which is said to even top Disney World and Disney Land in regards to sheer entertainment. But I would say to test that opinion out for yourself and book a ticket!
Yellowstone National Park, United States
No location in the United States offers as much for environment lovers as does Yellowstone National Park with its large geysers, hot springs, beautiful elk and Bighorn sheep (which, as the name suggests do, in fact, have some incredibly large and curly horns).
If you and your child want to visit Old Faithful and see her shoot her geyser more than 150 feet in the air, or walk along the Grand Prismatic Spring (which is the largest hot spring in the United States), it is all right there in Yellowstone National Park.
This National Park has been the go-to park for adults and children alike for decades upon decades and will continue to hold that spot for decades to come, and for good reason.
Final Thoughts
For some people, it may seem difficult to find a location near them that both them and their kids can enjoy. The places listed above satisfy the fun needs for children and adults alike. You may have to do a little traveling, but that only adds more enjoyment to the visit.
If you have a child that loves video games and card games, book your flight to Tokyo, Japan and bask in their video game stores that line the streets of Akihabara. If you have a child that is infatuated with large elk and the wilderness, go ahead and book your flight to Yellowstone Park.
